Skinny gets loads of questions!  Here are the most popular questions and answers about our site, our ordering process and other stuff.
What are vinyl skins?
A Skin Your Skunk vinyl skin is a high gloss, clear coated "marine grade" rectangular vinyl sheet sized to match your guitar with an adhesive backing that is attached to and trimmed to fit.

Who is SkinYourSkunk.com?
Skin Your Skunk is a division of DevelopingClouds.com, a professional website and graphics design company owned and operated by Mark Witten.  In addition to computers, websites and graphics, Mark has been a guitarist and vocalist of numerous professional bands (Quitting Heaven, AWAKE and others).  Mark is the main designer and President of SkinYourSkunk.com.

Can vinyl skins be applied to any guitar?
Skin Your Skunk skins can be applied to any guitar (electric or acoustic) or bass and are custom sized for any application.  You will be asked to measure your guitar before we print your skin.  If you need a larger size, email us and we will work with you to customize your skin.

What about Acoustic instruments?
If applying Skin Your Skunk skins to an acoustic guitar or bass, please understand that this may change the sound of the instrument.  While this is not usually an issue...we can not take responsibility if you "don't like" the change in sound.  Here is my take on this, and it is just my 40+ years of playing guitar that brought me to this opinion.  If you own an expensive acoustic for the sound and are not amplifying the sound with a mic or pickup, you should avoid applying a skin.  But, if you are the typical acoustic guitarist that uses an acoustic with amplification or simply own an acoustic so you can play without an amp, you should be happy with the application.

What comes with my vinyl skin?
You will receive your rolled Skin Your Skunk skin and detailed instructions to allow you to professionally install your skin.  You will need a towel, scissors and a razor blade and installation is very easy.  Anyone can do it!

How long should it take me to apply my vinyl skin?
It takes about one hour to fit, cut and trim a Skin Your Skunk skin.  While the process is actually quite simple, we walk you through a tested procedure that will allow even first-timers to successfully lay, position and trim your skin.

How much do your vinyl skins cost?
For a limited time, a Skin Your Skunk skin costs $59.99 for any design and any size.  We also offer a custom design service for a little more.

How long will my vinyl skin last?
A Skin Your Skunk skin can last for years with proper care.  In fact, skins protect the original finish and can be removed easily when desired.  The vinyl product we use is "marine grade" which means it was designed to apply to the outside of boats that go 50 MPH through water for hours on end and bask in the sun.  If Skin Your Skunk skins can withstand that...they can withstand anything you deal out with normal play.
